I studied a BA (hons) Theatre Design at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design where I went on to gain a MA in Scenography. I have worked extensively in repertory theatre over the years designing, prop making, puppet making and scenic painting.

what can I do for you?

I am a versatile designer maker with a wide range of skills and techniques. Including puppet making, soft props, carving, mould making, casting, painting, upholstery, costume props…. having a special interest in puppets and large scale costumes.

recent credits

Recent credits include puppet design and making for the RSC’s production of the Merry Wives of Windsor, Props supervisor for Woyzeck at Birmingham Repertory Theatre, prop making for the newly refurbished Jorvik Viking Centre, Gravity Fields outdoor event 2018 Artist and workshop leader.

experience

I’ve been a freelance prop maker since 1999. Starting at Birmingham Rep and working over the years at various regional theatres including the Royal Shakespeare Theatre company and the Belgrade Theatre.

I was head of props for the Belgrade Theatres productions of Rumpelstiltskin and Coventry’s renowned Mystery Plays performed at Coventry Cathedral ruins.

More recently being props supervisor for Birmingham Reps 2018 production of Woyzeck.

Some of the projects i've delivered

Pomeranian Dog Puppet - RSC
Desginer/maker for RSC's 2018 production of Merry Wives of Windsor directed by Fiona Laird and designed by Lez Brotherston.
Godiva Carnival
Costume and puppet maker. Carnival designed by Brian Macfarlane and produced by Imagineer Productions.
The Bridge
The Community bridge was made through a series of printing workshops desvised by Lumo. It was unvailed at St Wulfram's church and added to by Street artist Mohammad Ali.
Welbourn Heritage Trail Map
Enamel Map for public display. Created through a series of community and school worksops. Part of the Welbourn Heritage Trail project for NCCD and Welbourn Parish Council.
Merry Wives Of Windsor
Prop Maker for RSC's 2006 production of Merry Wives of Windsor.
Deer Puppet
Forests 2012 - Deer for Forests, directed by Calixto Bieito, Co-produced by Birmingham Rep & Barcelona Internacional Theatre
Coventry Carnival
Artist for Covenrty Carnival. Breif was to a design and make a float, costume and community workshop.
Childrens Internation Games 2005
Designer and maker for the Opening Ceremony in Coventry 2005.
